The voice that criticises us

The voice that criticises us is not something we are born with. It develops over time, shaped by our experiences and the messages we receive about how we should be.
When this voice becomes too demanding, it can leave us feeling as though we are never enough, even when we are doing our very best.
Although this is a critical voice, it is often trying to protect us from something, such as the possibility of being rejected or disappointed.
The problem is that, when this protection becomes excessive, it can end up limiting the way we relate to ourselves, to others and to life.
It is important to understand where this voice comes from and what purpose it serves. By recognising it, we become more aware of how it shapes our thoughts, emotions and behaviours.
From that place of awareness, we can begin to transform the way we speak to ourselves and make more conscious choices about how we want to live 🧡
